It's been out on DVD, however, Disney likes to do this thing where they take out and put movies into the ';Disney vault.'; Basically they'll sell a Disney movie for a limited amount of time and then they'll stop producing it for a little while. It seems like all the movies come in and out of the ';vault'; in cycles so it maybe be out in stores again in the future. But if you want it now you can usually find new and used ones on Amazon...though the price is really inflated. Here's the link for you:

BELLE: belle is the prime example of a compassionate person. She sacrifices herself to save her father and stays with beast even though she could have left. she learns to love him because of his character and not his appearance, even though Gaston is a ';handsome'; man, she chooses the good ';man'; over him, and changes beast back without even knowing the consequences of it (good ones though)

ok what the movie is trying to tell us is that beauty comes from the inside out. their saying even though he is a monster, he still has a good heart. belle is a loving person who loves to read. she loves a good adventure and is a good person.
The moral is obvious, outer appearance is not nearly as important as inner beauty. Gastan was a handsome man, with a horrible personality, and the beast was frightening and ugly but was full of goodness. Belle was beautiful on the inside and out - smart (unusual for her time period) and curious ';for a woman';. Who did belle fall in love with? The Beast, because he was the better person. Yes, Beauty and the Beast is being planned to be released in October 2010. I just read that it's also going to be made for Digital 3D for a theatrical release in 2010 as well. The second link is an article about that.

Back in the village, the citizens cheer up Gaston after Belle has rejected him and his absurd marriage proposal. Maurice then bursts in and asks for help to rescue Belle from ';the beast.'; No one believes him, believing that he is insane, and Gaston decides to force Belle to marry him by threatening to throw her father into an asylum. Maurice goes off to search for Belle, unaware of Gaston's plan.
The famous ballroom dance sequence from the second act of Beauty and the Beast.Belle sneaks into the forbidden West Wing through her curiosity, discovering slashed furniture, broken mirrors, a ripped-up portrait with strangely familiar blue eyes, and the enchanted rose. The Beast angrily catches her and she flees the castle, only to encounter a pack of vicious wolves. Belle finds Maurice and takes him back to the village, where a mob gathers to take him to the asylum. Gaston offers to spare Maurice if Belle agrees to marry him, but she still refuses. Some in the mob including Gaston himself accuse Maurice of ranting and raving about a ';Beast'; as they prepare to take him away. To prove that her father's claim of the Beast's existence is true, Belle uses the magic mirror to show the villagers an image of the Beast. The villagers become frightened as they realize that the Beast is real. Gaston feels spurned and betrayed by Belle, accusing her of loving ';this monster,'; to which she replies, ';He's no monster... You are!'; Gaston angrily rallies the villagers to storm the castle and ';kill the beast,'; telling them that he is dangerous. To prevent Belle and Maurice from warning the Beast, Gaston locks them in a cellar. The enchanted objects at the Beast's castle are alarmed to see the mob led by Gaston marching towards it with a battering ram, and quickly prepare the castle's defense.
Eventually, with the help of Chip the teacup, Belle and Maurice escape from the cellar and rush back to the castle. Apparently, a fierce battle has already broken out; after the villagers force open the castle door, the enchanted objects have attacked and chased away all the villagers except Gaston, who goes up to the main bedroom and attacks the Beast, firing an arrow into his back, causing him to roar in pain. Gaston mercilessly attacks the Beast, forcing him near a ledge on the roof of the castle. Gaston demands that the Beast retaliate, but in his sadness and despair, Beast has lost the will to live and does not fight back. Gaston grabs a stone club from the ledge and prepares to kill the Beast. However, Belle reappears on her father's horse, Philippe, and inspires the Beast to fight back. The Beast grabs the club just before it comes down on him and angrily growls at a surprised Gaston. Belle urges Philippe forward, and the horse bravely stomps into the main hall of the castle. The Beast and Gaston then begin a ferious battle, taking them all across the roof of the castle in the midst of a raging storm. Meanwhile, Belle makes her way through the castle to the west wing. Gaston kicks Beast into a formation of gargoyles on the roof and inadvertently smashes the head of a beastly gargoyle, mistaking it for Beast himself. Gaston shouts for the Beast to come out of hiding and taunts him, asking if he really thought Belle would choose a monster like him when she could've had a man like Gaston. Infuriated, Beast emerges from the shadows and lunges for Gaston, but the hunter swatts him back with his stone club. Gaston then says that it is all over and that Belle is his. This pushes Beast over the edge. He disarms Gaston and holds him by the throat over a deep chasm. Gaston pathetically pleads for his miserable life. Although enraged, the Beast realizes that he does not possess within his soul the dark, evil, ugliness necessary to end another life. Beast spares Gaston. Belle comes to the balcony, calling for the Beast, and he climbs there to reach for her. At that point, Gaston stabs the Beast viciously in the back, only to lose his footing and fall off the high roof into the deep chasm.
Belle tries to reassure the badly wounded Beast that everything will go fine, but he believes he is about to die. Eventually, the Beast dies and Belle, who is now heartbroken, whispers in tears that she loves him, just before the last petal falls from the rose. He is immediately transformed and returns to his human form--handsome yet unrecognizable except for his piercing blue eyes. When Belle and the prince kiss, the curse is broken and the castle becomes beautiful again and the enchanted objects turn back into humans.

Back in the village, the citizens cheer up Gaston after Belle has rejected him and his absurd marriage proposal. Maurice then bursts in and asks for help to rescue Belle from ';the beast.'; No one believes him, believing that he is insane, and Gaston decides to force Belle to marry him by threatening to throw her father into an asylum. Maurice goes off to search for Belle, unaware of Gaston's plan.
The famous ballroom dance sequence from the second act of Beauty and the Beast.Belle sneaks into the forbidden West Wing through her curiosity, discovering slashed furniture, broken mirrors, a ripped-up portrait with strangely familiar blue eyes, and the enchanted rose. The Beast angrily catches her and she flees the castle, only to encounter a pack of vicious wolves. At the last minute, the Beast fights off the wolves; a grateful Belle returns to the castle and, while tending to the Beasts' wounds, thanks him for saving her life. Over some time, the two start to become friends. The household items are excited and optimistic that Belle may fall in love with the Beast and cause them to become human again. The relationship reaches its climax with an elegant dinner and ballroom dance.
Belle asks if she can see her father, and the magic mirror reveals that Maurice is lost and sick in the forest. The Beast, having fallen in love with Belle and feeling some pity to Maurice, releases her to go rescue her father. Although he knows that it may ruin his chances to become human again, his love for Belle overcomes his selfishness. As Belle flees on her horse the Beast utters a roar of sorrow.
Belle finds Maurice and takes him back to the village, where a mob gathers to take him to the asylum. Gaston offers to spare Maurice if Belle agrees to marry him, but she still refuses. Some in the mob including Gaston himself accuse Maurice of ranting and raving about a ';Beast'; as they prepare to take him away. To prove that her father's claim of the Beast's existence is true, Belle uses the magic mirror to show the villagers an image of the Beast. The villagers become frightened as they realize that the Beast is real. Gaston feels spurned and betrayed by Belle, accusing her of loving ';this monster,'; to which she replies, ';He's no monster... You are!'; Gaston angrily rallies the villagers to storm the castle and ';kill the beast,'; telling them that he is dangerous. To prevent Belle and Maurice from warning the Beast, Gaston locks them in a cellar. The enchanted objects at the Beast's castle are alarmed to see the mob led by Gaston marching towards it with a battering ram, and quickly prepare the castle's defense.
Eventually, with the help of Chip the teacup, Belle and Maurice escape from the cellar and rush back to the castle. Apparently, a fierce battle has already broken out; after the villagers force open the castle door, the enchanted objects have attacked and chased away all the villagers except Gaston, who goes up to the main bedroom and attacks the Beast, firing an arrow into his back, causing him to roar in pain. Gaston mercilessly attacks the Beast, forcing him near a ledge on the roof of the castle. Gaston demands that the Beast retaliate, but in his sadness and despair, Beast has lost the will to live and does not fight back. Gaston grabs a stone club from the ledge and prepares to kill the Beast. However, Belle reappears on her father's horse, Philippe, and inspires the Beast to fight back. The Beast grabs the club just before it comes down on him and angrily growls at a surprised Gaston. Belle urges Philippe forward, and the horse bravely stomps into the main hall of the castle. The Beast and Gaston then begin a ferious battle, taking them all across the roof of the castle in the midst of a raging storm. Meanwhile, Belle makes her way through the castle to the west wing. Gaston kicks Beast into a formation of gargoyles on the roof and inadvertently smashes the head of a beastly gargoyle, mistaking it for Beast himself. Gaston shouts for the Beast to come out of hiding and taunts him, asking if he really thought Belle would choose a monster like him when she could've had a man like Gaston. Infuriated, Beast emerges from the shadows and lunges for Gaston, but the hunter swatts him back with his stone club. Gaston then says that it is all over and that Belle is his. This pushes Beast over the edge. He disarms Gaston and holds him by the throat over a deep chasm. Gaston pathetically pleads for his miserable life. Although enraged, the Beast realizes that he does not possess within his soul the dark, evil, ugliness necessary to end another life. Beast spares Gaston. Belle comes to the balcony, calling for the Beast, and he climbs there to reach for her. At that point, Gaston stabs the Beast viciously in the back, only to lose his footing and fall off the high roof into the deep chasm.
Belle tries to reassure the badly wounded Beast that everything will go fine, but he believes he is about to die. Eventually, the Beast dies and Belle, who is now heartbroken, whispers in tears that she loves him, just before the last petal falls from the rose. He is immediately transformed and returns to his human form--handsome yet unrecognizable except for his piercing blue eyes. When Belle and the prince kiss, the curse is broken and the castle becomes beautiful again and the enchanted objects turn back into humans.
The last scene shows Belle and the Beast happily dancing in the ballroom, in front of many guests, which includes Maurice and the now-human assistants of the castle. Everybody is well; everybody is happy. Belle and the Beast live happily ever after.

i've always loved seeing them sing before beauty and the beast. i was just there in late december and it appears they no longer have the ';4 for a dollar'; pre show.
they must have stopped at some point in 2008 cuz when i went in december of 2007 they were still doing it.

Once a Disney movie goes back in the vault, it is not available in stores for approximately 5-10 years (usually in the 7 year range). The movie last came out of the vault in 2002, so look for it to be available in stores in another couple of years or so. The Disney Movie Club currently does not have it, as for the most part they only carry movies that are not currently in the vault. Right now your best bet is to buy it off ebay or through someone who already owns the movie.Does anyone know where I can buy the Disney movie Beauty and the Beast?

In terms of availability, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King are all out of print which means that they truly are no longer available in retail stores, and only on ebay can one hopefully find one of these titles in mint condition.
You can certainly try eBay or some other online auction site, but be forwarned -- you could be spending around $30-$40, if not more, because of the rarity.

If you don't want to wear a mask, you could just glue fur to your face like extra big sideburns and add some to your eyebrows. Not to mention, make your hair all scruffy and shaggy looking. Get some wolfman makeup or some kit that includes brown face paint and smear it on your face evenly to make it darker. As for clothes, he's a prince, so you could just wear a nice white button-down shirt with a black vest and suit pants. The party store should also sell boot covers, which are basically pieces of sturdy cloth that velcro over your shoes to look like boots. Black would look nicest but they may only have brown for a pirate, that'll work. You could look for a basic black vest from a thrift store and add some gold cord trim from wal-mart with hot glue and/or some gold buttons to make it look double breasted. That's about it! Maybe you could even put a rose in your vest pocket. I think people will get the idea. =]

It's been said before that rights are based on many factors like how many seats your theater has, how many performances you're giving, etc... That said, prepare to spend anywhere from $1000 - $5000 for a musical just on royalties. The newer the show, or more popular ones tend to go for more than something off the beaten path. Another thing they'll do when giving the rights to perform a show is check and see if another theater in the area is also doing it at the same time.Amateur Production of Disney's Beauty and the Beast?
I have no idea how much it costs, but many small community theaters have licensed it so it can't be too much. I've seen this production done on a REALLY small stage. Basically the set was ONE bench and it stretched nearly the length of the entire stage.

You can do any show on a small budget, but a Disney show will not be as spectacular without some money put into it. The costumes in this show are extraordinary and will cost some money to put together even with a cheap seamstress. Does anyone know the book that Belle gets as a gift in The disney version of the beauty and the beast?
In the film, they never say - only that the heroine meets Prince Charming but won't discover that it's him until chapter 3. I think it's just supposed to represent a typical fairy tale, rather than a specific story.

Well, Disney did ';clean up'; almost every fairy tale to make it kid-appropriate, but that's not a bad thing.
Sleeping Beauty does have a few differences from the original Brother's Grimm story.
1.) In the movie, Maleficent wasn't invited because King Stefan didn't know of Maleficent. Does anyone remember the Beauty and the Beast show on Playhouse Disney ?
It had a real person playing Belle in like a massive library and you had Chip and Lumi猫re and Mrs Potts. And they used to solve a problem and sing. And halfway through they used to gather round Belle and she used to tell a story and a cartoon would follow.

What kind of hybrid / what animals was the Beast in the disney animated film BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (1991)?
The beast was very big. Had a head like a lion, legs and a tail like a dog, fangs like a wild boar, and horns like a cow or whatnot. What kind of animal mix was he? This answer is semi-off topic. When I see an actress playing her then she looks marvelous whichever dress she is wearing.
I was born in 1955 though, and frankly, despite the number of pictures in my sketchbooks over the years of Princess Aurora and Cinderella, I have to say I've always felt those are the ugliest two Disney movies ever. Cinderella's mice are cute but once you go beyond the many wonderful production sketches from both movies, you can almost see textbook examples of the worst excesses of ';Atomic Age'; design. Dumbo, Pinocchio and Alice in Wonderland are far more attractive, as are later films like the Little Mermaid (that opening shipboard sequence always hooks me).
I've always preferred the production sketches, which are usually in black and white. The finished work seems so cleaned up they've taken all the good stuff out of it, and that my sketches tend to look very little like the things I was drawing from is often deliberate.
Recent advertising art has been better, but I have to say I look more closely at pictures of the women they hire to portray her, like at Disneyland. And I can't say the color of the dress matters that much. When she's gorgeous she's equally so in both.

I CAN tell you that the Beauty And The Beast DVD is not available anywhere, unless you buy it second-hand off eBay or Amazon.
The reason being that Disney has an annoying policy of locking movies away in the ';Disney Vault'; for a period of time (several years). This increases the urgency to buy the DVD while it is still available, and also creates a high demand for the DVD leading up to its next release.
The DVD was released in October 2002, and then went out of print in January 2003. Disney plans to re-release the film on DVD in October 2010.
It sucks, I know. The Disney Vault is one of my greatest nemeses. I've long wanted Beauty And The Beast on DVD. Luckily my family has the old VHS.

Since Disney is going to be re-releasing Sleeping Beauty on dvd again next month, 5 years since it made its dvd debut.
